Israel launches air-strikes on Gaza

Israeli F-16 bombers have launched a series of air strikes against key targets in the Gaza Strip, killing at least 195 people, medical chiefs say.

Gaza officials and the Hamas militant group said more than 300 others were hurt as missiles hit security compounds and militant bases.

The strikes, the most intense Israeli attacks on Gaza for decades, come days after a truce with Hamas expired.

Seeing the disturbing scenes on TV is quite agonizing and disturbing indeed... I heard that the death toll has reached 195 so far...

Syrian Embassy, a gift to Lebanon on Christmas

The Syrian Embassy in Lebanon will officially start work immediately after Christmas. Read more here.

Does this mean a healthy diplomatic relationship between the two countries? In theory it is what two seperate countries should have, but what happens next? Will we need a visa to go to Syria? Same goes to Syrian wanting to come to Lebanon?

Lebanon immune to financial crisis‏

The world maybe in meltdown but Beirut is booming. The country best known for wars, turmoil and instability has not just survived the global financial crisis, it seems to be thriving because of it.

Deep down in the basement of Lebanon's Central bank treasury vaults are full. Cash has been flowing in like never before, Lebanese banks are posting record deposits and bankers say this is the best year in Lebanon's financial history.
