Maybe we should all get acquainted and used to Sarah Palin, as she really does have a change of becoming the next Vice President of the US AND A!
Why?
Because she repeated 3 times (see starting the 6th minute) that American will not second guess Israel's decisions!

Corpes swap, Hero swap or Prisoners swap?

This is a Haaretz article displaying in an series of drawn pictures about how the abduction of the 2 IDF soldiers happened in 11 and 12 July 2006 by Hezbollah.

I have to say that I do not regard Samir Kuntar as a hero. I know saying something like this is regarded by certain Lebanese people as unpatriotic or un-Lebanese, but may I remind you that we are still in a democratic country here, and Lebanon is not a dictatorship. Whatever Samir Kuntar believed in, whatever his cause was and the background he came from, killing a baby girl, is not regarded by me as a heroic action. That is putting matters in a simple way, I am not looking at this from a political point of view and historic point of view.

I have several times asked this question on this blog, of whatever happened to those Israeli soldiers, now we know that they are dead, but I am still trying to find somewhere if they were able to identify when they were dead. Because some sources are saying that one of them actually died during the attack. I am surprised of how Hezbollah were able to keep such info in the shade and no one ever knowing the status of these 2 soldiers. They kept them for prisoners swap, whether I agree with what they did or not is not the point here, but we have to admit, as a war action, that was a point going to Hezbollah. Hezbollah 1- 0 Israel.

Regional Updates, negative vibes

With the most recent assault by Isarel on Palestine, and more than a hundred killed with barely 1 week, we can only think of how much human rights are being violated by Israel. Countries such as India, Iran and China are condemning the use of force excercised by Israel on Ghaza and are demanding them to stop it. (Click here to sign a petition for a ceasefire) [1]

The Palestine Human Rights Campaign abhors the escalation of attacks and ground incursions Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) against Gaza in recent days. Today the attacks killed 31 Palestinians; including 8 children. Among the civilian casualties are thirteen who were killed INSIDE their homes. In the past five days IOF killed over 100 people have been and approximately 150 injured. At least a third are children according to medical sources and most of the casualties are civilians.

Meanwhile, US warships, a guided missile destroyer and USS Cole have resided on the Lebanese cost last Thursday 28 February. US claims that it is there because they are worried about the situation in Lebanon. Other explanations by other sides declare that they are here because of Syria and Iran. [2]

The United States has ordered a warship to take up position off the coast of Lebanon in a show of support for the country's embattled government.
The deployment of the USS Cole is being seen as a warning to Syria which - along with Iran - backs the opposition.

Lebanon remains without a president. The presidential elections has been postponed 15 times so far, and is due to take place on March 11.[2]

Lebanon has not had a president since 24 November, when pro-Syrian Emile Lahoud left office. Parliament has repeatedly failed to elect a successor amid an ongoing row over candidates.

Update on the two Israeli held soldiers

BEIRUT, Lebanon - Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said Sunday there has been progress in negotiations to free two Israeli soldiers whose abduction by the militant group sparked a 34-day war in Lebanon last summer.

[...]Last month, Nasrallah's deputy said there were "serious" U.N.-mediated negotiations to secure a prisoner swap involving the captive Israeli soldiers. But so far there have been no results.

"It is on the way to be solved," Nasrallah said in the interview. "It's just a matter of time."

Well well well, if it isn't the two Israel captive soldiers residing at the Hezbollah hotel... It's been 9 months, a child should be born by now! No information have been provided about those two soldiers, until now, and the information aren't still that clear. They have been even thought to be dead! A war has been started to retrieve those two soldiers back, so I am crossing my fingers for the prisoners swap to work out, because we'll at least have a slight reason to give some sort of an excuse for that bloody (to be remembered but no repeated) war that happened between Hezbollah and Israel during July 2006.

Peretz to U.N. Chief: Lebanon Ceasefire is in Jeopardy

Israeli Defense Minister Amir Peretz has told U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon that Security Council Resolution 1701 is endangered by Hizbullah fighters, who continue to hold two captured Israeli soldiers and receive arms shipments from Syria.

The resolution authorized deployment of a U.N. peacekeeping force of up to 15,000 troops to help Lebanese troops police the southern border with Israel. It also calls for a halt in arms shipments to Hizbullah, and demands the "unconditional release" of the two Israeli soldiers.

"This is an unequivocal demand by the state of Israel," Peretz said Saturday. "We see it as the key to continuing the precise implementation of resolution 1701."

Whatever happened to the two Israeli soldiers?

Israel claimed the reason behind the July war in 2006 on Lebanon was because Hezbollah had kidnapped two Israeli soldiers. The resistance kidnapped them as a way of bargaining in order to retrieve their prisoners from Israeli jails. More than 1000 civilians in Lebanon died, infrustructure, homes and entire cities were bombed to ashes, for those two Israeli soldiers.

Where are they now? Are they returned? Neither Israel is trying to bring this subject up anymore nor is Hezbollah mentioning anything about them. Are they dead? Are they still emprisoned? Or are they in Hawaii?

Pressure mounts on Olmert to resign

After Israeli Lieutenant General Dan Halutz Halutz's resignation, public and political pressure continues to mount on PM Ehud Olmert.

When asked whether Olmert, his ratings approaching single digits and facing a criminal corruption probe, would follow Lieutenant General Dan Halutz's example and quit, a senior aide told AFP Thursday: "No, he has no such intention." Source: AFP

Reaction in Lebanon was a sky lit up with fireworks, as Hezbollah celebrated the resignation of Halutz "after allegations of mismanaging the summer war between Israel and the Shiite group" (Source: Naharnet).

A little bit too late taking responsibility of the allegations of the failure in war between Israel and Hezbollah last July, however in the right timing to lift Hezbollah's moral.

This act looked at in a certain ways, and written with selective words would implicate that Hezbollah had succeeded in the last war.

However, if the failure that Halutz took responsibility for was not being able to stop Hezbollah Rockets from landing in Israel, than Hezbollah has failed too, as they did not stop rockets, soldiers, merkavas, aeral and naval equipments from entering and landing in Lebanon.
